Girl Scouts of the USA is the world's largest organization focused on and dedicated to girls - all girls - everywhere. Girl Scouts promotes building character and learning skills that empower and enable girls to succeed throughout their lives. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place! It is with this overall mission that the Oakville Service Unit operates to serve girls in Lower Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
The Oakville Service Unit provides girl scouting opportunities for girls in Kindergarten through 12th Grade. There are a total of approximately 25 troops. Girls come from The Morrisville and Pennsbury School Districts, Holy Trinity, The Pen Ryn School, and other private schools and homeschooling.
Our Promise and Law
The Girl Scout Promise:
On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
to help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
(Members may substitute for the word God
in accordance with their own spiritual beliefs.)
The Girl Scout Law:
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong,
and responsible for what I say and do,
and to respect myself and others,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place,
and be a sister to every Girl Scout
What We Do
These are just some of the annual activities of the Oakville Service Unit
Early in the school year all the troops of the Oakville Service Unit convene at Snipes Farm for hay rides, a bonfire, songs and smores to kick off another year of scouting.
Sudden Service Patrol
All Girl Scouts are eligible to join the Sudden Service Patrol, which represents the Girl Scouts at community events such as the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony and Memorial Day Parade.
Me and My Guy Dance
The annual Me and My Guy Dance is a special night of fun, food and dancing for every girl and her Dad, Grandad, or other special Guy.
World Thinking Day
Every February each Troop selects a country to learn about and on World Thinking Day all the Troops convene to share food, crafts and fun information about their adopted country.
In Spring the Troops of the Oakville Service Unit gather at a Pennsylvania Girl Scout Camp for a weekend of hiking, playing games, doing crafts, swimming, ziplining, kayaking, and singing songs around the campfire.
Oakville Day Camp
The Oakville Service Unit's final event of the year is the Day Camp, a camp held by girls for girls. For a small registration fee, younger girls can spend a week at camp, enjoying the activities that the older girls have spent the year planning.
